Open and transparent metro stations
Metro Stations Ørestad
The five elevated metro stations in Ørestad are designed as light and transparent pavilions in steel and glass, seamlessly integrating the metro line into the urban landscape. These airy structures rise above the heavy concrete rail infrastructure, acting as “beacons of light” along the route. Large glass facades provide both shelter and openness, allowing passengers to stay protected while maintaining a clear visual connection to the cityscape. At night, the illuminated stations and reflective glass enhance the metro’s presence as a vital part of the city. The flexible design ensures each station adapts harmoniously to its specific surroundings, preserving natural topography and access points. PLH led the design, planning, and execution of these distinctive stations, creating a metro experience that is both functional and visually striking.
