Connecting new sustainable district to the city
Metro Nordhavn
Two stations on the metro circle line´s branch off to the new sustainable city district, ‘Nordhavn’, makes it easy to change to the S-train, and gives potential for green areas.
In connection with the construction of the metro circle line, Cityringen, a branch off to the developing sustainable city district, ‘Nordhavn’ is constructed. PLH was assigned by the contractor MetNord JV as construction phase consultant on the realization of 2 new stations on the new Nordhavn line of the Copenhagen Metro. The scope of the project included developing the construction project in collaboration with MetNord JV. Nordhavn station and Orientkaj station have been designed by Arup and Cobe (Rambøll Arup JV), and the main project for Nordhavn station has been developed by CowiArupSystra JV.
The Nordhavn metro station is an underground station, while Orientkaj metro station is elevated above ground level. The elevated track is constructed on columns, as known from the existing metro lines’ elevated tracks and above-ground stations, making it possible to cross underneath the track.
