Redefining e-commerce: Connecting functionality with experience

The Urban Hub

Client
SBA Urban
Location
Kaunas & Vilnius, Lithuania
Area
89,000 m²

The projects in Kaunas and Vilnius aim to revolutionise the e-commerce landscape while enhancing urban life. In Kaunas, the 67,000 m² Urban Hub will transform the traditional parcel-pickup experience, combining showrooms, cafés, green spaces, and market areas to create a vibrant, dynamic, and welcoming environment. It integrates functionality with an engaging urban atmosphere, encouraging people to stay and explore. In Vilnius, the 22,000 m² Urban Hub continues this vision, blending logistics with commerce and urban culture. The two e-commerce hubs are both a shopping and experience destination, where architecture is used to unite logistics, commerce and an urban vibe.

As fanatics of architectural aesthetics, we are constantly pushing boundaries. Boring warehouse boxes are not for us. That's why in the architectural concept selection, we set ourselves the task of refining an idea that would rewrite the usual e-commerce space solutions. With the team at PLH, that is exactly what we have created – a new concept and business model that will respond to the changing habits of shoppers and the needs of merchants. The town's conceptually unified spaces and cozy streets will be a convenient transit shopping place and a place where customers and employees will enjoy being and spending time.

Rasa Pečiulaitė, head of real estate development at SBA Urban

Instead of an area exclusively for traditional parcel shops, warehouses and offices, the Urban Hub becomes a shopping and experience destination, where architecture is used to unite logistics, commerce and an urban vibe.

With this project, we aim to create a broader standard for the stock office segment in the market. Together with the world-renowned architectural firm PLH, we have developed a campus in Kaunas and applied the basic principles to the Vilnius project. The conceptually unified spaces and cozy facade solutions will become our distinctive architectural signature not only in Lithuania but also abroad. It is not only offices, exhibition spaces and warehouses all in one, but also a more convenient place to set up businesses, expand them and, if necessary, optimize them in a measured way.
