This project, awarded 1st prize in a limited competition, provides 10,000 new square meters for the police station in Roskilde. It is situated in a public park, creating a complex civic space around a new plaza and a historic neighboring courthouse.

The building is based on classic architectural principles with varying spatial masses, good daylight in fall, natural lines of movement, together with staggered building masses.

With its stepped volumes, the facades are broken down and their scale relates to the surrounding villas. The main entrance and reception area are placed out towards the paved square, whilst the functions demanding a level of security are placed towards the courtyard, together with other areas screened for internal use.

The facade expression is simple with a continuous band of windows and brickwork spandrel panels in a burnished and grey-yellow brick. The aluminium-framed window elements have a slender vertical fin of varying modulation that gives the facade a lively rhythm.

The upper floor is formed as a set-back penthouse to create a floating roofline giving the building a sense of lightness.
