Nexø Pier is a development project which intends to transform a raw industrial area on Nexø Harbour, on the Island of Bornholm, into a lively excursion destination for both tourists and the local population. The Pier development is expected to offer a lively marketplace atmosphere, where activity continues throughout the day. Here visitors can enjoy a wide range of cultural events, experience local cuisine and fine dining, and discover artisanal products and handcrafts.
The development plan includes the conversion of three existing buildings and the design for a new hotel, which are expected to heighten the appeal and authenticity of the site.
The characteristic storehouse building on the pier is restored to serve as a Market Hall, with food stalls, small boutiques, restaurants, microbrewery, as well as offices for public service functions. A second storehouse facing the coast road is to be converted for leisure activities.
An adjacent silo is to be converted into a hotel, with an art gallery and tourist information offices on the ground floor level and guest rooms in the silo above. An eye-catching observation elevator in the façade carries guests to the hotel and allows tourists to visit the viewing platform at the top of the silo.
A new hotel is planned at the far end of the pier.
