Enhancing mobility on Denmark’s busiest motorway
Køge Bugt Freeway
To ease congestion and improve traffic flow, the Køge Bugt Motorway – one of Denmark’s busiest roads with 100,000 vehicles daily – is being expanded from six to eight lanes between Greve South and Solrød South. PLH played a key role in shaping the project by developing the design manual and creating architectural solutions for new and existing infrastructure. The work includes designing seven new bridges, expanding nine existing ones, and integrating aesthetic and functional enhancements such as underpass extensions, retaining walls, and a cohesive lighting concept. Through thoughtful design, the project improves both mobility and the driving experience while seamlessly integrating with the surrounding landscape.
