Summary

Envisioning a welcoming community

Høje-Taastrup Municipality envisioned a modern and sustainable city hall that would serve as a vibrant civic hub. The goal was to create a welcoming space for citizens and a flexible, future-proof workplace for municipal employees.

City hall with a dual purpose

PLH’s design approach centered on fostering transparency, accessibility, and community engagement. By integrating sustainable practices and dynamic spaces, we aimed to create a civic building that serves both as a workplace and a community cornerstone.

Setting new standards for civic architecture

The nine-story city hall stands as a visually striking landmark, featuring a champagne-coloured, angled façade and a transparent atrium. Its inviting public spaces, including a rooftop terrace open to the public and landscaped surroundings, connect seamlessly with the nearby park and urban area. Flexible interiors optimise daylight and air quality, ensuring a healthy and adaptable work environment. To future-proof the office areas, the design is flexible, so it can be easily adapted and reconfigured for new needs and work methods. Sustainable features like recycled concrete foundations, intelligent energy systems, and biodiversity-focused landscaping have earned the building a DGNB Gold certification, setting a new standard for civic architecture.
