Nine floors. Eye-catching, transparent facade with playful angles. Large, inviting rooftop terrace, which can be opened to the public. Høje-Taastrup's new city hall stands out as a significant architectural landmark that invites citizens inside. The building, designed by PLH Arkitekter in collaboration with ALL and COWI, was born out of a vision of developing modern, flexible work environments for employees, while at the same time giving back to the city and its citizens.
"This is an incredibly innovative project characterized by high ambitions on behalf of the entire city. In close collaboration with all involved parties, we have created a beautiful signature building that is tailor-made to facilitate the meeting between citizens and municipality, the democratic processes, and urban life," says Søren Mølbak, CEO and partner at PLH Arkitekter.
Høje-Taastrup’s acting mayor, Kurt Scheelsbeck, sees great value in the new building:
"This city hall is a prominent landmark in our new district Høje-Taastrup C and at the same time a truly exciting building with lots of new possibilities for both employees and citizens. It is a citizens' house, where associations have opportunities like borrowing the council chamber or meeting rooms for events. It is a modern, flexible workplace where we can serve citizens and work in many different ways. And sustainability is at the forefront as seen in the reuse in the construction, solar cells on the roof and a sound operating economy going forward."
