PLH, together with NIRAS, is responsible for the design of Flintholm Station’s landmark structure - the vast floating glazed roof. The new glazed roofing spans across transit sites and to the bridges to the metro and S-train. The glazed structures provide an immediate visual contrast to the bridges, and a unifying visual link. The design comprises three new glazed roof elements. Two high structures provide coverage over the pedestrian crossing, and allow for buses to pass under. A lower roof covers the bus platform.

Furniture and signage is designed as an integrated part of the solution to create a visual orderly station, where signs and fixtures do shout-out. By incorporating fixtures in the support structures these become more than just columns to bear the roofs - they get a handy utility value, and therefore, to a lesser extent, perceived as obstacles for passenger flow.

Since the platform is a standing-area, there are no benches, but informal seating opportunities for short stays, beautifully incorporated into the supports of the glazed cover. It allows fewer elements on the platform and creates shelter of a special character.
